The reception of the sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace. For by the sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed.
***The Catechism of the Catholic Church
The sacrament of Confirmation is celebrated at the tenth grade level or above. Students may begin preparation for this sacrament no sooner than ninth grade. In order to receive the sacrament of Confirmation, students must complete the two-year sacramental program beginning in ninth grade and attend regular religious education classes which are separate from the Confirmation preparation classes. Eligible students must be baptized prior to receiving the sacrament of Confirmation.
Students are required to attend eight Confirmation preparation classes over a two-year period prior to receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation. For more information, please contact, Margaret Stastny at 515-244-3101 ext. 204, or the parish office at 515-244-3101.
